Center Erick Dampier got traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Charlotte Bobcats this summer and then got waived from the team on Sept. 14. Conventional wisdom had him joining the Miami Heat but then Pat Riley seemed to realize that he already had enough big men on the roster with Joel Anthony , Jamaal Magloire , and Zydrunas Ilgauskas already onboard

The Phoenix Suns are giving it one last try with Amar’e Stoudemire (notes) . Team owner Robert Sarver and coach Alvin Gentry are meeting with Stoudemire today in Los Angeles to try and convince him to not opt out of his current deal, take their contract-extension offer, and stay in Arizona, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.
