INDIANAPOLIS – The Sunday noon tip time in another time zone could have unsettled a lot of players’ games.
But for a man with more NBA experience than the Indiana Pacers’ starting lineup combined, Suns forward Grant Hill was at his Sunday best.
Hill went five seasons without a 30-point game but recorded his second of the season Sunday with 34 points in regulation but it was Channing Frye’s 22-foot shot at the buzzer that gave the Suns a 110-108 overtime victory at Conseco Fieldhouse.
The Suns (30-27) moved to three games above .500 for the first time this season but not without some familiar fourth-quarter drama. The Suns led by as much as 15 but went seven crunch-time possessions without scoring to wind up down 99-96 with 1:03 to play. That is when Hill set a career high with his fourth 3-pointer to tie the game with 44.4 seconds to go and got on the floor to rebound a Jeff Foster miss and call time out with 27.6 seconds to go.
The game went to overtime after the Suns had a shot clock violation as Jared Dudley was trying a 3-pointer. Left 4.1 seconds, Granger missed a 3-pointer to send the game to overtime.
Hill, who also had nine rebounds and defended Danny Granger, assisted on two of the Suns’ first three scores in overtime that put Phoenix ahead 106-99. The Suns had a repeat of crunch-time in the fourth quarter, going four possessions without scoring with two Steve Nash missed 3-pointers to allow Indiana within one point with 52.6 seconds remaining in overtime.
Dudley dished to Marcin Gortat late in the shot clock for a short jump hook that put the Suns back ahead 108-105 with 31.4 seconds to go. The game was re-tied with 23.9 seconds to go when Josh McRoberts scored inside while being fouled by Frye and made the free throw.
The Suns ran the clock down on the ensuing play and called time out again with 3.5 seconds to go. Nash took the inbound and fired a pass to the wing, where Frye made the game-winner with Rush closing.

There is the quick update of the day.
