Dampier finally signing with Heat

When the Charlotte Bobcats released center Erick Dampier in mid-September after getting him from the Dallas Mavericks in a five-player deal, it was expected that the 6-11 35-year-old would sign with the Miami Heat . But that didn’t happen. Pat Riley seemed to realize that he already had enough big men on the roster with Joel Anthony , Jamaal Magloire , and Zydrunas Ilgauskas already onboard.

Suns’ Richardson wants contract extension

Phoenix Suns guard Jason Richardson will be an unrestricted free agent next summer and there are likely more than a few teams watching him closely since he’s currently averaging 19.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. But he doesn’t want to become a free agent at all, he tells AOL FanHouse. He’d much rather have a contract extension with the Suns.

Bosh unhappy with hard practices

The Miami Heat had three days between games earlier this week so coach Erik Spoelstra apparently put his 7-4 "dream team" through two seriously hard practices. After all, the team that the world expected to crush the rest of the league this season isn’t even in second place in its own division

The Miami Heat had three days between games earlier this week so coach Erik Spoelstra reportedly put his 7-4 "dream team" through two intense practices Monday and Tuesday. After all, the team the world expected to crush the rest of the league this season isn’t even in second place in its own division. The practices paid off with a 123-96 win over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, as Chris Bosh went all out and poured in a season-high 35 points

Earl Barron joining Suns

Center Earl Barron has been playing pro ball since 2003 for everybody from the Tuborg Pilsener and Huntsville Flight to the Florida Flame and Iowa Energy. Along the way, he’s had stints with two NBA teams, the Miami Heat and New York Knicks , and now it is "expected" that he’ll be adding a third team to that list, according to the Arizona Republic: the Phoenix Suns . Suns starting center Robin Lopez is going to be out for a few weeks because of a left knee sprain so the team is planning to sign the 29-year-old seven-footer, the paper reports

Hedo Turkoglu wasn’t happy with his time with the Toronto Raptors last year and he likely isn’t loving life with the Phoenix Suns right now, either. After all, he was brought in there to bring some offensive punch and he’s only averaging 10.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game so far this season

Wolves want compensation for Webster trade

The Minnesota Timberwolves are not happy with the Portland Trail Blazers . A source to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune says the folks in the Land of 10,000 Lakes want the league to look into whether the Blazers knew they were trading damaged goods when it sent swingman Martell Webster to Minnesota in exchange for the 16th overall pick in the draft last summer. Webster, who the Blazers took in the first round back in 2005, is out for around six weeks as he recovers from surgery he had on Monday to fix up a disk in his back
